Rachel Carson

Died: 1964

A scientist and writer, she studied Marine Biology & Zoology and wrote about the ocean in her book The Sea Around Us.

Editor-in-chief for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Bureau & also wrote articles on conservation and our planet’s natural resources.

After WWII, she focused on chemical pesticides used by farmers, publishing
Silent Spring asking Congress to protect human health and our planet.
