Daughter Irène: born: Sept. 12, 1897.  Died: 1956
Irène was a French scientist, who, with her husband Frédéric, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1935 for their discovery of artificial radioactivity.
Irène’s discovery sealed their family’s place in scientific history, building off her mother Marie’s research, who isolated naturally occurring radioactive elements.
Along with mother Marie’s 2 Nobel Prizes in Physics, the daughter’s award made the Curies the family with the most Nobel laureates in history.è
