Unsuccessfully ran for Parliament before she won a Conservative seat in the House of Commons in 1959.
Created schools for working-class families as Sec. of Education.
As leader of the Conservative Party, she was elected as the first-ever female Prime Minister of the UK in 1979, serving over 11 years.
Nicknamed the ‘Iron Lady,’ she was focused on nationalism, moral values & achieving political goals. 
She shared many of those values with Pres. Ronald Reagan of the US and their political leadership was called the “decade of conservatism.”
