Became head of Pakistan’s People’s Party but was placed under house arrest and then exiled from Pakistan by General Zia.

Served 2 terms as Pakistan’s Prime Minister after Zia’s death, the first woman to lead a democratic Muslim nation’s government.

Wrote 2 books, Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West & her own autobiography.
