  • Member of the Lemhi Shoshone Tribe and a key member of the Lewis & Clark expedition (to find the Northwest Passage linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans).
  • Kidnapped at 12, sold into marriage, and became a mother by age 17.
  • Smart, multi-lingual, and resourceful, she helped guide the expedition and ease tensions between Colonists & Native Americans (all while caring for an infant!).
