• Minister, activist and leader of the civil rights movement.

• Inspired by Gandhi’s non-violent protests and led the Montgomery (AL) bus boycott when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat.

• Delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech during the March on Washington (D.C.).

• Received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
