A Spanish nun and author of some “spiritual classics”, she wrote “The Way of Perfection” which detailed a life of prayer.
Devoted in prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary who was the focal point of her spiritual life.
She was good and kind-hearted, giving alms to the poor.
Became one of first women given the title of “Doctor of the church” and started the “Carmelite Order”. 
Said: “We need no wings to go in search of Him, but have only to look upon Him present within us,” and “Pain is never permanent.”
