Patron saint of Europe and martyrs.
Born to a Jewish family, but as a teenager stopped believing in God. Upon reading St. Teresa of Ávila’s autobiography, she converted to Catholicism and became a Carmelite nun.
She helped others through their pain and suffering right up until she herself was killed at a Nazi concentration camp.
Said, “We can do nothing ourselves; God must do it.”
