Born: 1894 in Poland
Died: 1941, at Auschwitz concentration camp.
Wrote and taught about Mary, the Immaculate Conception, and had a very strong devotion to Her.
Became a Franciscan priest and during World War II, he stayed in the monastery to help the wounded & protected Jews from persecution.
At Auschwitz, he volunteered to give his own life in place of a man who had a family, died a martyr.
Said, “Let us remember that love lives through sacrifice and is nourished by giving.…Without sacrifice there is no love.”
