Born: 1656, in Mohawk nation (present day New York)
Died: 1680
Patron saint of Native Americans.
Lost her family to and personally suffered from smallpox which left her body covered with scars.
Converted to Christianity walking hundreds of miles on foot to a mission in Canada where she continued to live a holy life.
She was called the “Lily of the Mohawks” because of her purity.
Said: “I am not my own; I have given myself to Jesus. He must be my only love.”
