Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph
Artist: Guido Reni - Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg
Born: Bethlehem
Died: Nazareth
Husband of Mary, mother of Jesus, tradition places him as Jesus’ legal guardian and father.
Patron saint of workers, he is generally believed to have been a carpenter or woodworker.
Pope Pius IX made him protector of the Catholic Church.
He is regarded as a true role model for all fathers.  Considered perfect example of a faithful believer who receives grace at his or her time of death.
He died in the presence of both Jesus and Mary.
