Saint Joseph of Cupertino

Saint Joseph of Cupertino
Author: Ludovico Mazzanti – Painting
Born: 1603 in Italy
Died: 1663
Franciscan friar and priest, who was widely scorned throughout his life for being, dim-witted and clumsy as well as having strange outbursts and a general ineptitude in almost all that he did.
Strangely he was prone to miracle of levitation – floating in the air – once even in front of the Pope.
Although dull and odd, he was kind and lighthearted and a friend to the poor, he was often caught up in his vivid visions of God which sent him into fits of laughter.
Patron saint of pilots and people suffering mental handicaps.
