Was a Cardinal, an academic and died a martyr.
He was a very intellectual man who became Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.
Demanded better preaching and homilies by priests including himself, however he had famous and important homilies that were reprinted several times during his lifetime.
Said, “A good man is not a perfect man; a good man is an honest man, faithful and unhesitatingly responsive to the voice of God in his life.”
