Poor shepherd who became a Priest, teacher and writer who focused his life on helping children, especially those less fortunate.
Developed a way of teaching children called “Salesian Preventive System” which used love rather than punishment for helping improve the lives of troubled and delinquent children.
Said: “Do not try to excuse your faults, try to correct them,” and “Do you want your companions to respect you? Always think well of everyone and be ready to help others. Do this and you will be happy.”
