Served successfully in the military until being struck by a cannonball leaving him with permanent limp.
Became a priest and theologian, he started the religious order called “Society of Jesus” (or Jesuits), who are noted for their holy missions and charitable works.
Was a great spiritual leader who taught prayers, meditations.
Said: “Act as if everything depended on you; trust as if everything depended on God,” and “Love is shown more in deeds than in words.”
