Died: 1274
Doctor of the church, theologian, and seen as one of the greatest spiritual philosophers of the Middle Ages, he was even made a Bishop near the end of his life. 
Led the Franciscan Order as minister general for 17 years.
He firmly believed that using both reason and faith, he could prove the existence of God.
Said: “Let meditation of Christ’s life be your one and only aim, your rest, your food, your desire, your study.”
