Saint Basil

Died: 379
Always sought knowledge, he was educated in Athens, Greece, taught and practiced law but turned his life instead to serving God.  Became Archbishop of Caesarea, he was a monk, theologian and supporter of the Nicene Creed (our “Profession of Faith”).
Was a great preacher and a man of great holiness and morals, fought evil, corruption anywhere he saw it.  Known for his personal charity, he used his own income and wealth to build monasteries, help the poor, hungry and underprivileged.
