Born: 354, in modern-day Algeria
Died: 430
Doctor of the Church and an important Christian thinker.  Was sinful and reckless in his youth but his mother, St. Monica, continuously prayed for him that he’d grow closer to God.
As bishop of Hippo he fought against branch of Christianity that promoted false teachings.
Said, “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward…is to see what you believe,” and “There is no saint without a past, no sinner without a future.”
