Despite his outlaw persona, was a U.S. Air Force veteran who performed free prison concerts.

Well-known hits include “I Walk the Line,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Ring of Fire.”

One of the few people inducted into the Country, Rock & Roll and Gospel Music Halls of Fame.
