This “King of Swing” was a jazz clarinetist and bandleader who helped launch the Swing Era.

Most of his live shows opened with his classic “Let’s Dance.”

On the B-side of “Sometimes I’m Happy,” the Fletcher Henderson arrangement of “King Porter Stomp” became the standard for the swing and big band era.

Jazz history was made at his 1938 sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC.
