Husky-voiced, rebel female singer of the 1960s, she mesmerized crowds with her raw, powerful performance style.

Scored hits with “Me and Bobby McGee” and the album Pearl.

Tragically succumbed to substance abuse at only 27.

The “First Lady of Rock & Roll,” she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995 and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy.
