Aviator who made the first solo transatlantic flight in his single engine plane, “Spirit of St. Louis.”

“Lucky Lindy” became a global celebrity but his infant son was soon kidnapped, known then as the “Crime of the Century.”

Later assisted the WWII war effort and became a Pulitzer Prize-winning author.
