Born June 25, 1954 in Bronx, NY

1st Latina, 1st Hispanic and 1st woman of color to serve on the US Supreme Court.

From a working class family, she rose to become valedictorian and attend Princeton.

Had an important role in helping end Major League Baseball’s strike in 1995, with President Obama even noting that she “saved” baseball.

Criminal justice reform and defendants’ rights have been major areas of focus for her.

Wrote the children’s book “Just Help! How to Build a Better World,” which encourages people to help others.
