Recognized for his contribution as one of the major Latin American writers of the 20th century.

Wrote a collection of essays entitled The Labyrinth of Solitude, in which he analyzed Mexican history and culture.

Sunstone (Piedra de Sol) helped cement his reputation as a world renowned poet.

He’s received many awards, including the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Jerusalem and Miguel de Cervantes Prizes.

His life and career was influenced by his grandfather’s library which was filled with classic Mexican and European literature.
