First Latina American to receive Kennedy Center Honors award. 

Born as Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero, she was a stage actress, singer and dancer best known for originating roles in Broadway musicals including West Side Story, Chicago, and the title role in Kiss of the Spider Woman.

2-time Tony award-winner for Best Actress in a Musical for Anna in The Rink and as Spider Woman in Kiss.

Also acted in many TV series and films, including the soap opera One Life to Live and The New Dick Van Dyke Show.
