Pioneering epidemiologist who discovered the correlation between yellow fever and an increased mosquito population.

Nominated for the Nobel Prize 7 times, his research saved the lives of millions and allowed for the completion of the Panama Canal.

Over 20 years, 40+ articles and after having conducted 100+ experiments, his work helped the US Army during the Spanish American war as he provided the key insight to destroy larvae in stagnant water.

Became the Chief Health Officer of Cuba.
