Born July 9, 1965 in Bronx, NY

1st Latino and openly gay Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union. 

Started a role at ACLU right before the terror attacks of 9/11.

As head of ACLU, he quickly launched Keep America Safe and Free, an important campaign aimed at protecting civil liberties and freedoms for all people.

Worked to reduce prison populations as well as fight the criminal justice system’s racial discrimination.
