Born August 4, 1955 in Texas

The son of Mexican immigrants, he served in the US Air Force and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School.

Became first Hispanic US Attorney General, appointed by President George W. Bush.

Helped write the USA Patriot Act, legislation that increased the powers of law enforcement after Sept 11th with his strong stance on terrorism often coming under fire.

Was also the 1st Hispanic to serve as White House counsel.
