Been called an “inventive” trumpeter and cornet player.
Dropped out of school at 11, joined quartet of boys singing in streets for $. 
Had 19 “Top Ten” records, including “Stardust”,“What a Wonderful World” & “When The Saints Go Marching In.”
Did 10+ films, often playing himself.
Posthumously awarded Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1972.
Nicknamed Pops, he had a giant personality both as a stage performer & as a public figure.
