Lived in Eastern India, now Nepal, and taught followers 3 Tenets: Don’t get angry, hate others or be ignorant.
Not the portly fellow seen in statues – practiced moderation in all things and fasted regularly.  Spent his time walking and speaking & was a seeker of wisdom & knowledge.
Buddhism, world’s 4th largest religion, was founded on his teachings of the nonviolent methods word of mouth & carvings.
Born a prince, he left behind great wealth, understanding that material wealth was not life’s ultimate goal.
Said: “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”
