American politician, successful lawyer & the 16th President of the USA.
Considered among the greatest of US presidents, he led country through Civil War, preserved the Union & abolished slavery.
His powerful “Gettysburg Address” speech promoted national pride, equal rights for all, liberty & democracy.
Pushed for 13th Amendment which permanently outlawed slavery. His “Emancipation Proclamation” changed the legal status of 3 million slaves from “slave” to “free”.
