Robert L. Johnson

Born: 1946 Mississippi, grew up in Illinois.

Has masters degree in International Affairs.

With his wife, he founded the first cable TV network specifically targeting African Americans, called Black Entertainment Television, which reaches many millions of homes.

Made history by becoming first African American owned company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2000, his network was purchased by Viacom for more than $1 billion dollars though he continued as CEO.

Was first African American to become a billionaire.
