Born as Sarah Breedlove. When she became sick with a condition that made her lose most of her hair, she began experimenting with ways to get her hair to grow back.
Opened a beauty school and factory and then a manufacturing company which was very successful.
Sales women she trained became well-known for her philosophy of cleanliness and loveliness.
Became involved in philanthropy in NYC.
She’s one of the 1st black women to become a self-made millionaire, her business was worth over $1 million when she died.
Said: “If I have accomplished anything in life it is because I have been willing to work hard.”
