Born Lawrence Zeiger – the son of Orthodox Jews who immigrated to the US from Belarus – he was the long time radio and TV host of his self-titled TV program on CNN for 25 years.

Amazingly, did over 60,000 interviews in his lifetime(!), with celebrities including Margaret Thatcher, Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney and even Vladimir Putin.

Known for his “chutzpah,” he was adept at asking good, probing questions of all he interviewed.

“I remind myself…nothing I say this day will teach me anything.  So if I’m going to learn, I must do it by listening.”
