Writer, philosopher, teacher and human rights activist who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986 “for being a messenger to mankind: his message is one of peace, atonement and dignity.”

His book Night is based on his own experience as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps.

Winner of The National Jewish Book award for Modern Jewish Thought and Experience for his book, Souls on Fire.

His life’s mission was bearing witness to the Nazis’ WWII genocide.
