The sticker book program led by David is absolutely spectacular. The quality of the books themselves, along with David’s wonderful interactions with the residents, makes it such a great experience. The simplicity of the sticker design is great for our residents who have some trouble with fine motor skills and challenging enough to keep even our most hardcore history buffs engaged. Many of our residents have memory impairments, so it is exciting to see them light up when they recognize a familiar face in the sticker books. The program is an hour of learning, laughter, and fun that we will continue to participate in far into the future.

Dear Sticker Book Publishing:
I spoke to our leadership team immediately after your visit and everyone loved the sticker books!
I asked my CEO to find an angel on the board to fund the program at the Stamford YMCA and I just connected with him – we are delighted to be able to get involved in this program and offer ICONS Sticker Books to our kids.
We just love the concept and the inspirational message of these sticker books. They are not only fun but an exciting new way for our kids to learn as well. What a unique and
positive method for kids getting to know and understand the lives of some really amazing people!
Thank you again for offering this relevant and creative product for our summer camps. We are looking forward to getting this underway. This is wonderful.
I strongly encourage any YMCA, community organization, and anyone committed to empowering youth to offer ICONS to their community!
Sincerely,
Danielle Jean-Guillaume Sittol

Thank you for sharing this. What an extraordinary book you have created and published.
I was just talking about you and showing the Saints Sticker Book to a parent of a new student in our program.
The kids LOVE it. The Teachers love it. And the parents love that it’s not the typical textbook and that the kids are really diving into it.
Enthusiasm. Nothing but enthusiasm. Thank you for this wonderful book!
In Christ,
Sue

Hi David, sorry for the delay, but this is the right moment:
The quality and presentation of the book are great, as is the selection of saints.
My students were excited to complete the book, and they were interested in the lives of the saints about whom they were learning.
That said, I think the product obviously works better for younger kids. I tried it on sophomores, and they all completed the book, but they were not thrilled when I said they could keep them. They were just… meh, I guess is the best word. Most of them are non-practicing Christians of one kind or another so that certainly works against it.
I think I will see about trying it out with the 6th Graders at St. Joe’s next year.
Bottom line: it is a great tool for students to get excited about the saints and their faith. Just needs the right audience.
God Bless,

Good Morning David,
The books are a hit!!! We’ve implemented them as part of a reward system. Each month teachers vote for a student of the month. All the students who receive at least one vote receives a book and/or page of stickers.
The incentive is that if you can complete your book by the end of the school year, there will be another prize waiting for you. After the first month, about ½ the school received the book and their first page of stickers. After month 2, another 5 more students received their book while others received their 2nd page of stickers.
This is becoming a hot item…more and more students are working harder to get a vote from one of their teachers in order to receive a book. Students are collaborating to make sure they’re getting the stickers in the right places. I am getting great positive feedback from parents. One parent told me this was the best thing her son has ever received from school and he can’t put the book down when he’s at home.
This system seems to really be working for us. Even students who may not complete the book by the end of the year still want the book. You’ve done an amazing job and I would love to be a part of the process. I would be honored to take a sneak peek at the African-American History book and The Academy would also be honored to have a place on your website.
I’ve included our school logo as an attachment.
Thank You and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,

Here’s the feedback I received from Karen, one of our Title 1 teachers:
I just wanted to provide you with a little student feedback from the ICONS sticker book. I have used the books [this summer with 4th graders] and they report, “it is awesome, interesting and educational.” I like learning about people in history and in my life.
The vocabulary can be a bit difficult to read and comprehend in some of the descriptions but overall it is fine.
I did download a QR app on an iPad that can be used as a final check for correct sticker placement. This has been a real hit! My educational assistant has been completing the tasks with the students. I have used this as reading fluency practice, and I like that the topic is history. The students are excited to bring the books home next week.

Dear David,
The Sticker Book on Saints is fabulous! It’s a great mid-year break from the sometimes difficulty of the text. It’s fun! The vibrant colors make the book immediately user-friendly.
The young today cannot breathe without their cell phones. They only had to think QR Reader and the app was up and running! What a wonderful tool.
I too, have learned to use it.
The information provided about each saint is not overdone; appropriate facts are highlighted, therefore the kids don’t get bored or disinterested. They learn!
Next year as eighth graders, these children will prepare for Confirmation. I have, and will continue to, stress the importance of choosing a saint’s name – one whose life has made an impression.
This text is a must for seventh graders! I will continue to use it as long as I teach and thank you a hundred times for your part in making this great teaching tool.
Sincerely,

Here’s the feedback I received from Soni, another of our Title 1 teachers:
Wanted to thank you again for the ICONS books.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders loved them, and the feedback from parents on the last day of camp was very positive.
Able to spend some time on them during camp, and believe the students and their families were looking forward to finishing.
If possible, I’d like to have a sample copy to share with Tina.
Thanks!
