Homer

Lived in either 8th & 12th centuries BC, Ancient Greece, possibly on coast of Asia Minor but birth date unknown.

Famous for epic poems “The Iliad” & “The Odyssey”, considered greatest poems of world literature.

Little known about author but it’s thought that he may have been blind.

The Iliad is set during Trojan War & ten-year siege of the city of Troy (Ilium) & the battles between King Agamemnon & the warrior Achilles.

The Odyssey follows Greek hero Odysseus (Roman = Ulysses) & his 10 year journey home after fall of Troy.

Said: “The difficulty is not so great to die for a friend, as to find a friend worth dying for.”
